Answer:

Derry is a fourteen-year-old boy whose face is badly burnt by acid. Because of this, he feels lonely and avoids people. 

डेरी चौदह साल का एक लड़का है जिसका चेहरा तेज़ाब से बुरी तरह जल गया है। इसी कारण वह अकेलापन महसूस करता है और लोगों से दूर रहता है। 

2. Question: Who is Mr Lamb? Why do children call him ‘Lamey Lamb’?

Answer:

Mr Lamb is an old man who lives alone and has lost a leg in the war, so he has a tin leg. Children tease him and call him ‘Lamey Lamb’ because of this. 

मिस्टर लैम्ब एक बुज़ुर्ग व्यक्ति हैं जो अकेले रहते हैं और युद्ध में अपनी एक टांग खो चुके हैं, इसलिए उनकी जगह एक टिन (धातु) की टांग है। बच्चे उन्हें इस कारण ‘लैमी लैम्ब’ कहकर चिढ़ाते हैं।

Answer:

Derry enters Mr Lamb’s garden by climbing over the wall because he thinks the place is empty and a quiet spot away from people.

Answer:

Derry says this because he believes people fear his burnt face and judge him by his appearance. It shows he has low self-confidence and feels alienated.
